G’day

Specialty coffee brand system

This project covers brand identity and packaging system design for a specialty coffee roaster operating on freshness, small batch logic, and subscription based tasting. The identity was conceived as a dynamic, data friendly system that scales from handcrafted production to automated workflows across physical and digital channels.

Client and Collaboration Overview

We collaborated with G’day from its earliest operational phase, when coffee was roasted in limited quantities and labeled manually. The identity was developed iteratively and tested directly in production, logistics, and ecommerce environments. Design decisions were validated against real constraints such as labeling speed, data variability, and order based roasting. As the business scaled, the system evolved without resetting the core brand logic. The collaboration treated identity as infrastructure rather than decoration, allowing it to grow alongside operations.

Project Objectives

The primary objective was to design a flexible identity system capable of adapting to different coffee origins, roast profiles, and tasting notes. The system needed to support rapid content changes without redesign overhead. Another goal was to balance a human, craft driven feel with structural clarity suitable for scale and automation. Consistency across packaging, digital touchpoints, and subscription flows was essential. The brand needed to remain recognisable while accommodating variability as a core feature.

Project Outcomes

We delivered a modular identity and packaging system built on strong visual logic. Early stage packaging used angular label fragments combined with handwritten roasting data, enabling fast iteration and personalisation. As volumes increased, a fully printed package was introduced, preserving the original angular label geometry as a key brand asset. A controlled colour system allows product differentiation while maintaining coherence. The resulting identity is scalable, automation ready, and designed to perform across physical packaging, digital content, and subscription based commerce without losing its human tone.
